big success!
The 2010 C3P and NASA International Workshop on
Environment and Alternative Energy was held on November 2-4,
2010 at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus.
United States and international subject matter experts presented
on environmental- and energy-related topics, ranging from
renewable and alternative energies to climate change response to
site remediation, among others.
The workshop began with a general session led by
distinguished speakers from C3P and NASA. Welcome remarks were
made in person by: the Dean of the UCSD Jacobs School of
Engineering, Dr. Frieder Seible; Ms. Olga Dominguez, Assistant
Administrator for the Office of Infrastructure and
Administration at NASA; and General (ret.) Pelagio Castelo
Branco, C3P Director. A video statement from Prof. Humberto
Rosa, Secretary of State for the Environment was shown.
Individuals from seven
countries (United States, Portugal, Germany, France,
Netherlands, Norway and Japan) attended the three-day event,
including students and professors from the universities in the
Unites States, Portugal, and Germany. Half a day was devoted to
oral and poster presentations by university research students.
The event also included a panel session on the matter of
measuring sustainability.
The workshop provided an excellent forum to showcase
innovative and emerging environmental and energy technologies,
share lessons learned, and identify new joint opportunities.
